Output to 3D Grid

The Output to 3D Grid is a tool with which you can create the geomechanical properties based on the settings of the geomechanical modeling workflow.

If you have assigned a function to a material parameter (with the Material Properties form), you can assign a property to the variable(s) in your function on the Output to 3D Grid form.

  1. At the top of the form, select the Geomechanical model of interest. All models that you have created with the Geomechanics workflow are available for selection.
  2. Select a 3D grid from the 3D grid drop-down list.
  3. In the Property folder name text field, enter the name of the folder that will hold the geomechanical properties. The folder will appear under the Properties item of the 3D grid you selected in step 2. The default name is the name of the input geomechanical model.
  4. If you have selected a geomechanical model that uses functions to calculate material parameters, the form is populated with a table. In this table, the parameters that have assigned functions are listed per Volume of Interest (VOI). For each variable that is used in the function, you must assign an existing property. You do this in the only column in the table that is editable, the Property column.

  5. From the drop-down list, select an existing property that will be used as the variable in your function. Only properties that have the same property type, and are available for the selected 3D grid, are listed.

  6. If you have assigned a property that has time steps, only the value of the first time step is used.
  7. Click Apply to create the properties and keep the form open, or click OK to create the property model and close the form. The settings on the form are not saved, but you can use the audit trail (home > Audit Trail > Open) to review the last used settings.

The properties are added to the folder as defined under step 3 and which will be located under 3D Grids > your 3D Grid > Properties in the JewelExplorer.
